How to Cook the Perfect Steak
If you ask people what their favourite food is you can bet your bottom dollar that a lot of them will say steak. There’s nothing more delicious than a nice piece of tender and juicy meat. However, in order to truly enjoy steak, you need to make sure it is cooked to perfection. Even the nicest cut of steak can be ruined if it is not cooked correctly.
So, how do you enjoy a steak that would be worthy of being served in any of the top restaurants? Well, first and foremost it all begins with finding a good piece of meat. Purchase from a reputable company and instead of going for the cheapest option you should go for a great piece of steak. Filet Mignon is a recommended choice. Moreover, make sure the steak is freshly cut and that it is of a good thickness, approximately one and a half to two inches thick.
After this, the preparation begins. Proper preparation is the key to how top restaurants manage to serve such delicious steak. You should trim your steak carefully. You only want to be left with a little rim of white fat. There are several different ways you can flavour your meat. One option is to use the following; garlic cloves, red wine vinegar, Marsala wine, horseradish, black pepper, and salt. You should crush the garlic, pepper, and salt together and then rub it into the steak. After this, mix the rest of the ingredients and pour it over the steak. This is a good example of how to flavour the meat because it is not overpowering. You don’t want to lose the natural taste of the steak, you merely want to intensify the flavours.
Now all of the preparation is done, the next question is; how do you cook your steak? The good news is, cooking steak does not have to be difficult. From the oven to the grill; there is a wealth of different methods you can utilise. Frying your steak is a quick and easy option that a lot of restaurants utilise. All you need to do is add oil to your pan, about one to two teaspoons, and make sure it is on high heat. Don’t add your steak to the pan until the oil begins to smoke. Once you notice this, you can then add your meat. You will need to cook the steak for approximately four to five minutes on each side. If you haven’t added any flavours beforehand in the preparation process you can always opt to add herbs just before you finish cooking the meat.
When you serve your steak, your accompaniments are important. Read up on wine pairings with steak so you can be sure to choose something that does not overpower the meat or have a negative impact on the flavour.
