Zoolander's Orange Mocha Frappuccino

Zoolander's Orange Mocha Frappuccino

First of all, let me tell you that my dad is having his birthday today! We have a little bit of a birthday season at my home: my sister was yesterday (July 27th), my dad is today, I am having mine next Wednesday and my mom the week after that. The only one that has a birthday all for her own is my little sister: April 19th. So let's make a fancy drink to celebrate my dad!

I've been eyeing iced coffee recipes as I have very fond memories of a little coffee shop back in my hometown, owned by Germans, and one of the stars of the menu was a drink called "Berlin Iced Coffee". I used to go with a friend of mine every single weekend to have this drink with a slice of pizza. Squared pizza, by the way. We used to spend hours there playing a card game named "Fast" (also known as "Spit"). That was our life, before husbands and kids! The place didn't even have a name, we only knew it as "where the Germans".

The orange mocha frappuccino reminds me a lot of the Berlin Iced Coffee, plus, I love the silliness that is Zoolander. Perhaps you remember the famous scene where the Orange Mocha Frappuccino is mentioned: Zoolander is feeling sad because he is being out shined by his model rival Hansel, and his supermodel friends advised him that the "best way to sort out these important issues" is with an Orange Mocha Frappuccino. So they go out to be ultra-silly and get into a "fight" in a gas station... we all know what happened next.

I've added a little bit of coffee liqueur because we are celebrating, but feel free to skip it!

First we need to make orange syrup, as unfortunately we couldn't find at the store. Don't be intimidated (as I was) since it's very easy, and you will only need two ingredients: orange juice and castor sugar. Plus, it mixes very well with the coffee!
